20/06/2008 TCO involved in newly publish book on building trust in emergency relief teams
For a year and a half TCO, Castleton Partners and a consortium of 6 major global charities worked on developing a practical set of tools to develop a culture of trust within global emergency response teams. This involved academic research by David Trickey, interviews with experienced leaders in the field and visits to Sri Lanka and Malawi by Nigel Ewington. The result is a new book called "Building Trust in Diverse Teams: the toolkit for emergency response". "This is a hugely valuable contribution to both understanding and knowledge. The toolkit is accessible, and engaging; the style is clear. It strikes a balance between being academically grounded, yet dynamic enough to encourage the reader to keep moving through." Ben Emmens, Director of HR Services, People in Aid. We are all very proud of the result and any legacy this may leave to support people in he field who are working at the hard end of cross-cultural management. 02/11/2006 International Coaching for Chinese JV mentors and coaches
In association with Advantara's Director Hannah Wilder TCO will be conducting a number of intercultural coaching workshops for 15 tutors who will be supporting newly recruited Chinese graduates for a European/Chinese JV. The idea is to combine coaching and mentoring techniques with a sensitivity to the cultural requirements of the Chinese coachees. Our recent research for a global bank on Chinese learning styles suggests that there are clear differences in preferences for development when comparing Europeans and Chinese in a learning context. Hannah has also been licensed in The International Profiler feedback process so like most of our associate partners we share common tools but have specialist skills to bring to new projects.
