While initially we focus on needs, we also have a distinctive way to looking at the skills required to address them. We believe that cross-cultural competences can be broken down into a developable set of skills and attitudes.
| - |
skills for 'pulling' others towards you, such as openness and flexibility |
| - |
skills for 'pushing' forward your own agenda in the face of distractions and opposition, for example personal autonomy and emotional strength |
| - |
communication skills, such as listening orientation, perceptiveness and transparency, influencing skills and cultural knowledge |
| - |
organisational skills for networking distant local managers |
| - |
team skills for building trust and managing diversity in multi-cultural teams |
We believe these skills not only need to be researched, but also to be made explicit and implemented through learning.
All of our programmes aim to raise awareness of these skills, and provide opportunities to put them into practice.
